The Early Years Foundation Stage
Children aged 0-4 years are legally required to cover the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum by their childminder.
So children who are aged between 0 and 4 years old will have activities provided for them which cover the curriculum. The key areas of this curriculum are:
COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
These three areas form the building blocks for children to start learning.
In addition I will also teach some more specific areas of the curriculum:
LITERACY
NUMERACY
UNDERSTANDING
THE WORLD
EXPRESSIVE ARTS
As I childmind I will teach these curriculum areas mostly by providing the children with different types of play - imaginative play, creative play, physical play and manipulative play.
The curriculum will be covered through a mixture of in-house activities, activities in the garden and trips out into the local communities of Benfleet, Hadleigh and Thundersley and walks in the local countryside. I aim to make all activities as fun as possible so children don't even realise they are learning!
I have a growing collection of toys and resources for your children to use - a role play kitchen, dress up box, play dough, paints, dolls house, jigsaws, Duplo and much more.

I encourage children to have self confidence, to learn self-help skills and to have a 'can-do' attitude.
I will feedback to you each day in a diary so you will know what your child has been doing and how they have got on. I will send you photos of your child each day. I will also write a progress report on your child's development each term.

I aim to work in close partnership with parents and carers to make sure the children are happy and developing well. I aim to be inclusive to children from all backgrounds and respect individual preferences and values.
